Destination: Irvington

The Post has a story today about Irvington, Virginia, a small town on the west side of the Chesapeake Bay. It just so happens that I was in Irvington not long ago, and I stayed at one of the places profiled in the article -- the Hope and Glory Inn. Wow, this place was so, so nice. It is decorated beautifully with all sort of antiques and folk art, always remaining on the tasteful side of kitschy. And the gardens are gorgeous -- they have that English garden look of being wild and uncultivated that you know must take hours to achieve. But, best of all, an outdoor shower.

The only problem is that, unless you have a boat, there's not a heck of a lot to do in Irvington except wander around looking at beautiful scenery and old stuff.
