This is sort of cool. It's a collection of word maps resized according to different criteria. The one here is net immigration.

Aw, now we've all posted today! The tourist maps are really interesting. Africa is TINY!

The maps are all interesting. I wish they provided a little more discussion on them, however.

I was surprised to see that Africa is so small as a tourist destination. I was in Africa as a tourist this year, and -- although it clearly does not have the tourist infrastructure of, say, Italy or even Croatia -- I got the sense that tourism was a significant part of the economy. Of course, that could say more about the relative strength of the economy than anything.

I guess it makes sense to me. Think of how many people you know who've been to Italy (one little country) compared with people who've been anywhere on the continent of Africa. And then think of all those European vacationers who pop over to Spain for a long weekend where we'd go to, oh, Rehobeth. No one goes to Namibia for a long weekend.

True. I know a lot of people who have been to Africa once or twice (or like 5+ times in my dad's case), but those same people have been to Europe many, many times.
