One more thing about So You Think You Can Dance? I have studiously avoided having Fergie's "music" enter into my consciousness. So, for example, I am aware that there is a song called "My Humps" that contains the lyric:
My hump, my hump, my hump, my hump, My hump, my hump, my hump, my hump, my hump, my hump. My lovely lady lumps (lumps). My lovely lady lumps (lumps). My lovely lady lumps (lumps).
But, so far, I have been able to deny it. But now I have actually seen Fergie "singing" and "dancing" and "rapping" on TV with my own eyes!! Egad.

That song recently topped Rolling Stone's list of the top 20 most annoying songs. I heartily agree.
I like Fergie, and I was pleasantly surprised by Fergie's live, non-lip-synch performance at the Princess Diana concert. It sounded like she can actually sing, and for that I give her props. Plus, I like all the spelling out of words in her songs. Makes them catchy and easy to sing along to. Perfect pop.
There is a You Tube video of Alanis Morrissette doing that song in full Alanis mode (serious, slow, dramatic) and it's really funny. Or, as Fergie would say, H- to the I, to the LARIOUS.
It's like you've been in inner Laos for the last five years, or something.
